Bam!! And I’m on the plane, it really hasn’t seemed real up until now! I made it to Canada, after 20 months of preparation after my change of course at the end of my first-first year, so after all that, it’s really happening, I’m on the plane to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada!! I’ve elected to study at the University of Alberta (or uAberta here onwards) I have one semester to rock canada. I do neuroscience and biochemistry.
I packed 10 days in advance and have spent the last two weeks packing, planning and saying goodbye to the friends I’m leaving behind. It’s a wrench leave all my fantastic friends, but hey I’m going on a fantastic trip of a lifetime. So here it is, I am on the plane, once I land I make my way to the fabulous 5 star hotel, a one off, the accommodation for the rest of the trip shall be distinctly studential. (FYI my new word!) tomorrow I shall make my way on the LRT, which is like a kind of local train, down to campus and claim my new room for the semester.
I have been bombarded (it’s really not a good idea to type bomb on an aeroplane the people around me are shifting uncomfortable, so don’t do it!!!) with email, not only from all my friends & family wishing me luck but from various people from uAlberta who want to invite me to do their sport, join their team or club, come to their event. I’m loving it and I’m hoping to kick start a new regime for my life, as to get fit, get up and to manage my time more efficiently. I have a fantastic gym in the accommodation complex and am planning to go running every morning!
I apologise for the random haphazard style of prose, it is severely edited as to appear with a semblance of logical flow and not the random tangental crazed style my brain normally works in. Think of the episode of friends where ross eats all the maple candy and goes crazy hyper, well my head is always like that, I have to work very hard to appear sane and sedate for the outside world.
