So I’m All Settled in!

Hej! (that’s hi in Swedish)

So I just recently finished my first course ‘Development Theories and Colonial Legacies’ and have moved onto Comparative Politics. To be honest, I have a love and hate relationship with the Swedish way of teaching. I appreciate the aspect of doing one class every couple of weeks, since it allows me to focus on one subject at a time; however, the workload seems a bit too intense for me at times, that I tend to get a bit overwhelmed. A sad fact I've noticed is that my Comparative Politics Class is Level 3, while on the other hand I am just beginning my 2nd year of university; so you can imagine the pain I'm about to encounter….. At the end of Comparative Politics, I’m supposed to come up with a thesis for my degree which is explained on 3 pages….sigh….wish me luck!

Besides school, I’ve realized that I’ve gotten a bit lazy. When I first came to Sweden, I woke up around 8 or 9 am….but now, the earliest I would get up is 4pm (if I don’t have a class on that day). This has made me miss out on all the fun stuff, but hopefully I can get my act together. I think the cold weather is part of the blame, since it has gotten quite cold over the past couple of days. It is always cloudy and I can’t recall the last time I saw the sun! It is going to get worse as the weeks go by, so hopefully I can cope with it.

I may be attending a Salsa class on Wednesday (how random) and I have signed up for a trip to Russia which takes place next month.

Besides school and the weather, Sweden is still awesome! I love it and have no regrets.

So until next time, Hejdå! (that means goodbye in Swedish)
