J'arrive!

Hello Canada!! Yesterday around midday I and a few other Keeleties landed in not-so-sunny Toronto, despite the less than welcoming weather the place was still incredible! To get to Brock University we had to take the Niagara Airbus which drives around the biggest lake I have ever seen: Lake Ontario (which apparently is the smallest of the great lakes!). Arriving on campus it was clear that the place was absolutely MASSIVE (including Maccy D's and Starbucks on campus), and I thought Keele was pretty big, but Keele's 8000 students are completely dwarfed by Brock's 17,000. After some confusion by the Airbus driver we ended up having to get a golf buggy escort to our halls of residence. I'm in 'The Village' which is made up 12 courts of homely townhouses, this is where I met my new housemates! There are five of us to a house and I'm so happy they're all really amazing people :D.

My first evening at Brock was spent by going to dinner with my court and then to the O-Week (that's Fresher's Week to you :p) 'Kick Off' which I'm pretty sure was some kind of rally to get everyone excited for the week's events! It pretty much included meeting all the organisers and being thrown free T-shirts and mini footballs - one guy also won a PS3 for getting the loudest crowd cheer. The Kick Off then ended with a 'live burn' where the fire department show how quickly a fire can spread in a dorm room (ironically the Bieber poster took ages to catch alight). The main event of the night was the Brock Tower party,  which is basically just a party... under the Tower... at Brock :) My housemates and I started off round the other courts, meeting others, playing beer pong and then everyone I met would be saying how 'cute' my British accent is and kept asking me for tea and crisps! (I love Canadian banter)

Turns out I wasn't as hardcore as I thought and after being up for 24 hours I had to call it a night. Surprisingly comfortable sleep using towels for pillows and my coat for a duvet, shopping is def on the agenda for tomorrow!

Pictures to come!
